Jamie Horgan

Jamie started practicing yoga in 2001 in her first year at El Camino College in Torrance. She needed a PE credit and had heard about the wonderful healing effects yoga has on the body, so she enrolled in a class there. Once this class ended, a few years passed where she did not take yoga. During this period of time, Jamie took a spill and fractured her elbow in two places. Having had you arm in a sling for nearly 7 weeks, calcium deposits began developing around the scar tissue leaving her arm relatively immobile and unable to straighten.

For physical therapy her doctor recommended free weights or yoga to help heal her injury. Remembering the calming effects yoga had on her body and her mind, she chose yoga. She immediately began practicing at a studio in Manhattan Beach, and within two months, her arm was healed! She could straighten it again. While taking class at this studio, the studio owner asked her if she would like to join the yoga teacher training offered at her studio because she had seen the strength that was built in her practice. Jamie was elated and signed up for the two and half month long teacher training that would transform her life, body and mind.
